Van Os

Van Os Bridge
This is a 14 ft x 66 ft bridge over a flowing creek. The stringers are railroad flatcar girders. The decking is pressure treated 4x12’s laid flat. The abutments are supported by 3-inch diameter pin-piles. I ran across many of these types of bridges, using flatcar girders, when I was inspecting and load rating bridges under a Federal contract for bridges in the states of Oregon, Washington, Montana, California and Idaho. The flatcar girders make a very substantial short span bridge.
