Alaska Airlines Headquarters

Alaska Airlines Corporate headquarters #2
I did this project in the 1980s while with Andersen Bjornstad Kane and Jacobs (ABKJ).  I was both senior project manager and project engineer. This was a fun project, and it went well from start to finish. The building itself was steel; braced framed with a composite concrete floor system. The exterior cladding was Dri-Vit, which was used to match the original headquarters that was an all structural concrete design. The most outstanding feature was the pool and stair shown in the picture above. This system was all concrete with lots of curves. I remember the construction guys who were putting up the form-work really enjoyed the project because it “gave them a challenge.”  It was nice to see this work on the front cover of Architectural Record.
